Wireless Video Case Study

We regularly demonstrate our capabilities to our partner companies, these activities tend to go on behind closed doors without PR and marketing campaigns. The Visualise project is a good example of our work in the public domain:
Visualise was a development project set up to provide an enhanced experience for spectators at major sporting events. Visualise uses live video, GPS information and background data aggregated as programming content delivered over Wi-Fi to mobile phones and PDAs.
The benefits were targeted at spectators, event participants and event organisers alike. The service allows spectators to get a richer experience from the event and not miss out on any action. While event participants and organisers get an opportunity for a value-add on ticket prices and advertising.
The service was demonstrated at the Belmont Horse Trials in 2007 and at both the 2006 and 2007 World Rally Championships. Users were offered a choice of camera views - from a range of fixed cameras, at the service park and positions along the trackside, or from live in-car cameras. The live video channels were complemented by track position and timing information.
ProVision founders, Professors Dave Bull and Andy Nix, led the two year project which was achieved in collaboration with Inmarsat, ISC, Maniac Films, Turner Broadcasting, Bristol University, BT, Util4 and U4EA.
